Re: steering column ?

The ONLY column that will be an EXACT replacement will be from another 89 F-Body. The 89 set-up used the old style ( non air bag ) column - but was the only old-style column available WITH a VATS chip Key.

John's right. You also have to factor in tilt wheel, cruise control, and delay or non-delay wipers.

Re: steering column ?

i am in the same boat but with a 91? I have disabled my bag and remvoed it along with my VATS. so, basically, it the old school waybut my column seems to be getting looser and looser and now my high beams no longer work. Can I just swap out the entire worn out colun for a 4th gen one with lower milage and use on it? Do the 4th gen ones bolt right in?

Re: steering column ?

From what I just looked up, it seems that they will, you just need to use the thirdgen intermediate shaft (Between the end of your steering column and the steering box) and it should work fine.
