for those intrested in dash swaps

about 7 or 8 months ago somebody was swaping out their dash for a 4th gen, and in that same post somebody was wanting a supra dash. well my boss had a Dodge Stealth that was pretty much junk and he let me have the dash and center councle out of it because the car was going to the scrap yard. so i polled it out and now its sitting in my garage guages and all + the computer but shhhh! you will see that on ebay in a few days hehe. but does anyone have any suggestions on how i should begin to mount this thing? i was thinking about taking the mounting bar that streaches the whole width of the car OUT and making a new one thats a lil higher and fabing up some of my own brakets.

have you taken all the guages and disconected all the vents and poked the connectors through the hole that attach to your guages? i just removed piece by piece and i have already done it twice. its also alot easier if you take the steering wheel off trust me.

Re: for those intrested in dash swaps

Having the column dropped and the center console removed is required to pull the housing out. There is a 10mm screw on bottom and 13mm nut on top on the Left and Right sides that hold the dash housing to the brackets. Then remove the 6 7mm screws along the top edge (after the dash pad is removed) and that's it.

If you have already removed the cluster than the speedo cable isn't the problem and you probably just missed a wire somewhere. Be sure that the electric power junction block wire(s) and the C100 firewall connector are completely disconnected as well as the body harness. After that it's just the options wiring that's holding you up. ( Cargo light, Rear defroster and so on )

Another piece of advise is to unscrew the hood release handle as many time there are wires that are run behind it and get cought up when trying to pull the housing out.

Good luck !

there are a couple of "T" clips on the rear of the dash that have the wiring harness electrical taped to it.
some cars are worse than others.
i couldnt get to mine to cut the tape, so i just yanked on it all pissed-off-like and it broke the clip.
i didnt care about the dash, but it ended up comming out in perfect shape.
