seat foam

i have two sets of non power seats from two 91 Camaros. Both of the driver seats are ripped pretty bad. Is it possible for me to take the foam off of one of the passenger seats and put it on the drivers seat frame, or is the foam from the drivers seat and passenger seat different? Im trying to make one good set of seats.

Re: seat foam

I cant say with 100% certainty...but I believe you can. I think you can technically use the bottom cusion and all if you ignore any seat switches or levers.

Either way...Im pretty sure you can do it. They are close enough, and the seat cover has a lot of say in the final shape of things. Not sure if you'll need some new hog rings and hog ring pliers. Depends on how those seats are held together.

Sounds like a great way to make one good seat out of a couple shabby ones though!... good way to go about things!

If you do it, post some pictures because Im sure it will help others.

Good luck!

J.

Re: seat foam

I looked into this as well. The problem, which you will see when you take your seats apart is the location of the reclining mechanism on the passenger side matts down the fabric. it also will leave a few rather large holes. Although this is covered by the center console, I opted out of these holes and bolted the drivers side seat tracks directly onto the bottom of a passenger seat. It took some finagling but it fits in just fine. The reclining mechanisms are against the center console, but i'm the only one that drives my car, so its no issue for me. You really can't tell either that its swapped until it is pointed out.... just my good luck!!!
