hatch pulldown / TDS kit
Hi all - new poster here, and new to Third Gen Camaros. I've been an avid offroader for years, and have owned 2 built up Jeep Wranglers (still own an '04 Rubicon). I've always wanted a third gen Camaro (I'm an 80's child), and I finally found an '87 Z28.
The first problem I've encountered is with the hatch pulldown. I opened my hatch to clean, and the hatch would not close. I searched a few threads here, and figured I should check the mounting of the pulldown assembly. The motor works fine - fully cyles up and down when I place a screw driver in the catch (I can hear the click at the end of each cycle). I unscrewed the trim, and when I loosened it, disintegrated nylon guides fell to the bottom of the hatch. When I pulled the trim away altogether, the entire motor assembly slid right out of the bottom of the frame. It looks like part of the clear housing (I assume that's what it is) broke off. It looks like 2 screws on the driver's side of the pulldown frame should be attached to the clear hosuing to hold it in place, but there was absolutely nothing holding the assembly in place. I assume that in addition to the nylon guides, enough of this clear plastic housing broke off, which allows the assembly to slide right out of the bottom of the frame.
After reading some more threads, I discovered Top-Down Solutions. I'm just not sure what exactly I need to fix this. Hatch pulldown repair kit, deluxe repair kit, or the entire pulldown unit remanufactured. Since the motor and latching mechanism seem to work properly, would the repair kit be sufficient? Thanks in advance.

Re: hatch pulldown / TDS kit
I went with the "300310" kit for $115.00 plus shipping from TDS. You get a reinforced housing and a new style motor, not to mention better quality nylon guides. My original motor worked too, but was a lot slower than the new one, not to mention it being 19+ years old. The new guides were a bit tight and needed just a minor filing down, but all is working perfect now. TDS was great to deal with and Lon kept me informed throughout the process. Good luck.
