Steering wheel repair

My steering wheel..like most 3rd gen wheels was ripped and looked crappy.
I gave it to a friend who does leather work to recover for me.
He's never recovered a wheel before.
I think It turned out great.

I think your right, how much did he charge? I bet you could open up a side business for him, there are many people here who need that done

Re: Steering wheel repair

looks like he did an excellent job. I think he could have had tabs made into the original design to match the original, but overall it looks phenominal. I hope he used some strong glue, or it may start to twist like the originals did. All in all, great work!

He wanted to end up with only 1 seam to make it stronger which is why the leather doesn't come out onto the spokes as far as the original cover did. it was 3 separate pieces of fake leather.
I think when I repaint the spokes and use gloss paint the plastic won't stand out as much.
It's 2 layers of leather to give it some thickness and yes..he used strong glue.
As for what he charged me..barely enough to cover the price of the leather. I had to argue with him to give him more hen he asked for..

The job is quite fair. So he used a leather for this wheel. Does he accept some rubber job for steering wheels?
