Re: pull down hatch to manual hatch

A friend of mine has done this to his car.

You will need both the mounting bracket and latch assembly from an 82-85 car.

Then remove the pull down assembly, and the bracket it bolts to the bracket is held in palce with 3 or 4 spot welds, Weld in the new bracket for the manual assembly, adjust the latch assembly with the hatch closed (preferably with a buddy on the outside to help you) and your done, all in all takes about a 1/2 hour.

Nope, you still need the support bracket from the car that came from.....it's welded in place.

You can't just bolt that in place of the electric latch.......it won't work.

Re: pull down hatch to manual hatch

I've welded a few of the pull down assemblies permanantly in the down position so that they were like a fixed latch. That way there were no pieces to buy. And no welding on the body.

You will also need the part that that piece bolts onto, which is what is spot welded to the body.
