Speedo not reading right and odometer not working

Speedo not reading right and odometer not working

i have an 89 firebird. all the other gauges work. the speedo reads about 3mph off when your going under 30mph but the faster i go the further off it gets. and the odometer dosnt work at all. i really need some help on this one. i cant seem to figure out why the odometer isnt working. anyone have an idea.

Try searching other threads on this site. The odometer problem comes up frequently and the suggested solutions are worth the read before tearing anything apart.

Welcome to the club. My speedometer needle fell off and odo does not work. Argh. At least the gas gauge works and so does my tach.

my gas gauge got stuck on full. i know how to fix that tho. just dont have the money at the moment

most of the time speedo is off cause of either rear end change or a gear swap

Speedo cable may be starting to unwind itself... the wrong cable was put in, or the gear ration/trans was changed.
