Ash Tray Delete Mod!
Mounted my sattelite radio in place of the ash tray, not completely done yet. i need to find some abs plastic to make a good cover so you cant see the ash tray hole anymore and cover up those led's that dont do anything.
Opinions and comments welcome!
Also need to do something about that radio plate, or at least the hole!

Re: Ash Tray Delete Mod!
thats pretty cool. You have a few options for continuing the mod, probably what I would do is cut the floor of the ashtray and sink in the Sat radio unit a bit more so you don't see the base and you do see the whole head unit. You have a few options for the plastic. A nice way would be to buy ABS plastic sheets (ebay) and try to work with that, but what I've found much easier and more plentiful is going to the junkyard and looking in the trunks of most newer cars and the false floor (that covers the spare tire) is usually made of just solid plastic after you pull up the carpet. Its a pretty big piece and alot of plastic and pretty cheap too... Good luck!

thats a great idea, ill have to keep a lookout at work, since i work at a tow yard.
im having trouble finding a place to mount it down to so it would be solid enough once i cut the bottom out. i need to hit the hardware store and find some more of those torque screws too

Mount it to your sunvisor & put a cheap, useless tape deck in the stock location (not even hooked up).
Thiefs look in the window, see nothing worth stealing & will move on.

For the plastic needed - check radio shack for black plastic project boxes, or office depot for index card boxes - I've used both before and alot of times you can find them with the wrinkled look that almost is a perfect match.

HCR13, im not quite sure exactly what you mean?
Stephen, I would do that but this car is a show car, and that doesnt look too nice at car shows, also when the look in and see the component systems in the doors, they would break in anyway, looking for some oem door panel material to cover that up(how it origionally looked.
cameron, thanks for the idea, ill have to check!
