B&M 80692 question

alright I am installing a B&M 80692 console shifter into my camaro and am a little confused about one thing. In step 15 it says Cut the bulb socket from the stock console light. These wires will be connected to the indicator light on the shifter. Remove the indicator assembly from the stock console cover plate. A small file or a hot knife works well. then in step 18 it says Install the indicator light bulb in its socket on the shifter cover plate. Connect the wires that were cut in Step 15. How do I place the stock indicator light socket over the B&M shift indicator? I already have it off of the stock place but have no idea how to get it on the B&M plate. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Re: B&M 80692 question

I think I understand now. Mine isn't like the older ones, mine is from a 1989 and I saw this one on eBay and see how it would mount right up with the bolts and stuff. So i guess either I need to modify mine somehow to work or buy a whole other plate to remove the dadburn socket

If you want pictures let me know, i have that setup in my '89. I wasn't the one who installed it but it seems to be right.
