adding power door locks

I would like to add the power door lock function to my car while I have the door panels off. (the top plastic trim ripped out from the cardboard)

Outside of the switches, the new plastic surround, and the actuators, what wires will i need to run to make it work? Or did GM leave the wires in there for the option?

Re: adding power door locks

GM did not leave the wiring. But..they did leave the connector for the power windows/locks. Go to a local wrecking yard and pull the dash off and loosen the dash assembly and pull it foreward and the window/lock harness runs there. Trace it to the driver kick panal and take the relay and pull the wiring from the doors and get the switches as well. Remember the relay is the ground on some years., so make sure you screw it down under the kick panal. It's an extremely easy sway-in. I did it and hooked up keyless entry alarm to it.

BTW: You might want to bring a battery to the wrecking yard to ensure that the actuators aren't weak and that they fully lock/unlock with one button push. Also a drill too drill out the actuator rivets.

Re: adding power door locks

Most of these lock motors are worn out and garbage. Save yourself the hassle and buy a $20 kit that comes with the harness , remote switch and all accessories to hook it up. Easy as pie. You can then unlock your car while walking towards it.
