seat lumbar?

my 89 GTA has the 4 way power adjustable lumbar positions in the front seats. the passenger's stays inflated while the driver's doesn't hold any air. i'm not sure what's back there, but is it a type of air bag of some sort? whatever it is, how easy is it to replace and what do i need to do?

Re: seat lumbar?

They are actually air bladders that install between the seat cover and seat foam. Think of them as ziplock bags hooked up to a vacuum line and a pump that inflates and deflates them.

Installing new ones is not easy, unless you're good at replacing seat covers as you basically have to take the seat cover off to replace them. I would also imagine that new ones are not readily available, if available at all.

The driver's side bolsters in my '02 T/A haven't really held air for more than a day or so since the car was new. I just live with it. Can't wait to see how long they hold in the '87 GTA seats I bought for my '91...
