steering wheel question,I need help

This is a dumb question but I was wondering if anyone could help me find out how the steering wheels bolt up?Is it a spline shaft or just a shaft that the hub bolts to?if its a spline shaft does anyone know. How many splines and if it is just a plain shaft how big is it?

Splined shaft with a nut.
