how do you change/replace a cigarette lighter in a 1985 pontiac firebird...where does it unhook at? how do you get it out and hook a new one up? also my dome light is not working could this all be related to a fuse? since they are both out a the same time?
thanks

Re: cigarette lighter/85 firebird
I had problems with the lighters in both of my Camaros, so I gutted them, JB welded them together, and replaced the fuse that blew for the last time.

... He means the CTSY fuse... Will be just to the right of the frontmost circuit breaker, a 20A fuse, as is previously mentioned. Also controls the radio ignition power.
The lighter is easy to remove. Open the console arm rest and the ash tray cover. Remove the ash tray. Remove the screw underneath, the 2 screws at the end of the shift plate that sits under the arm rest, and the shift ****. Lift the plate gently, unhook the compartment light (if you have one), the shift indicator light, and the 2 connectors from the lighter. Unscrew the base of the lighter from the plate, and pull the rest out the top.
