Re: digital guages

About as close as you are going to get is something like Dakota Digital provides

There have been others that did digital dash conversions. Should find some good threads with a search.

Unless you have a T/A. I believe some of those came with an optional digital dash from factory.

Re: digital guages

Thanks for your response. I did try a search but was unable to find detailed posts about swapping out clusters. As far as the Dakota gauges go there is 2 problems #1. I have a 92 Camaro which has a different dash or at least the cluster and I have heard that swapping the dashes isn't as easy as it sounds as you have to swap a lot more parts too. #2. I don't like how the dakota gauges look. Actually I'm not a big fan of any digital gauges, but the dash I had in my olds was awesome I liked how it had a bar and digital readout, which dakota does too but it doesn't look as nice as this one in my opinion. Also as far as the T/A dash goes I'm not a huge fan of that dash either.

Here's what I do know about that digital cluster it was an option, there was a base digital dash that just had MPH and fuel level I think. Last night I also looked around on the W-body forums and from what I gathered there this dash was not made by delco or whoever made the digital clusters for all other GM cars which explains a few strange things about this dash, it worked and I never saw anybody who had this cluster where it didn't work and from reading on the W-body forums it is a very reliable cluster as 20+ years later I still can't find anyone who has one that doesn't work, also I have driven cars with other digital dashes and have noticed lag but this one I never saw anything like that with it. Another thing I do know is that one wire would control all of the gauges (maybe not MPH) and from looking at the W-body forums last night I guess swapping from a base cluster to this cluster is not plug and play and you would have to rewire your harness and in 1994 they switched to SFI and a new ECM and this cluster is not compatible at all with this ECM. So I guess my question is this how close is the ECM for a 92 Camaro with a 305 to a 88-93 3.1 ECM in the W-bodys? I have it stuck in my head that the wire that ran all the gauges was the exact same wire that ran to the ALDL, but I'm not sure if that's correct or not.

I don't know how many people will read through all of this so if I don't get any responses on this I will start a new thread, but what I would really like is a custom cluster that looks stock and has all analog gauges but with a digital speedo and tach readout also (so 2 speedometers and tachs) I have searched and not found anybody doing anything like this does this sound possible to you guys? I should also state I don't want something that looks like a racecar (yes autometer gauges look nice but they're not my style) but looks like it could be stock to a casual observer.
