any of you guys wrapped up their interior rear panels with vinyl?
im on ls1tech an run into a lot of vinyl wrapping projects i like the color and texture.

I bought some to do it, but that is as far as I got.... LOL

lol im wondering how prep work looks like? decreasing , sanding etc?

im getting tired of seeing carpet on my panels

The pleather made it inside my house & never went any further! LOL

You should be able to just rough up the pieces a little and use a good quality upholstery glue to stick on whatever kind of fabric you want on there. Just be wary of spray glues, they are sold in different strengths and some may be capable of melting interior plastics.

Mine came bare and was nicely scuffed by the previous owner... I saw some of the carpeted ones and thought it was a neat contrast. I opted for high end vinyl to give it a leather look. The backing was not loose fuzz, but it was also not the tight string. It was kind of a loose looping and due to the high end nature of the vinyl it contured and stretched well. Believe it was naugasoft. Used in furnture upolstry.

I used purple power degreaser and a tooth brush to cut the shine up crap that had been used over the years. A bit of alcohol to be sure. Never sanded tho. Might not be a bad idea. Not to much or you will actually smooth the factory texture and do more harm then good. Then used the same spray adhesive i used on my head liner (3m Super 90) Home Depot carries it. It did not melt anything. Then I carefully cut to fit in the factory edging... left a little excess and spray glued in. then finished with a nice sharp box cutter to clean the edges. got to go slow and easy. For stubborn edges I used a strong rubber cement type glue. Also found it at Home depot. I opted against the streching idea cause i was afraid it would pull up in the recesses with all the hot and cold.

Overide any picture during the process?

i too would love to see some in-process pics. looks like a nice alternative to the norm. and impossible-to-loosen fuzzies don't get stuck on the vinyl!

I will look, but to be honest the first set I did was before the digital camera... I might have a roll of film that I have not developed with the in process. I had a crappy digital camera the second go around and the pics did not turn out.

I think I might have some of the sound proofing I did. process is quite similar. i will do some digging tomorrow and post up what I can find....

I just pulled a trunk panel out tonight and sanded it down a bit until all the old plastic on top was gone and smooth. Mine was all deteriorating and crap. Looked awful. Im thinking Im going to grab some silverish vinyl and throw it on. My interior is all silver/whiteish. so far. the sanding looks pretty nice. Dont sand too hard on some areas tho .. you will decrease the lines that would otherwise be elevated and stick out .. lol. Oops.

I have been all through my pictures and I have nothing from the in process... I lost a bunch when I had computer issues a while back. not sure if they were lost then or if the film somehow did not get developed... Sorry

Im researching the same infos TPI TERR. So far, I found that I want 4 way stretch vinyl. Im not just sure where to order it from... I dont care paying high dollar for the right stuff. I just dont want the interior to look like **** at the end of the summer.

Ok so I found a nice looking vinyl wrap for 21.99 a yard. Which is usually 3feet by approximately 40 inches?

Not sure how much I would need...
Anyways what else do we need? Spray on ahesive and contact cement for the corners. And good prep work on the plastics

yes very similar to what im looking at.. how much is enough for the rear panels? i would say 3 yards?

for contact cement i was lookin at a ls1tech thread.. they prep the panels with 80 grit and add use DAP weldwood contact cement or the better stuff Fastbond 30 NF a blueish compound.

Id say 3 yards is more then enough for the trunk trim panels. Im in the process of customizing my interior, Ill make a thread pretty soon. Ill check out the glue used on tech.

Updates coming in 2 or 3 weeks, I should pick up the stuff at the end of this week and get busy, Im just waiting on vacations to get done with this.

Make sure you take pics, and note what steps you took. What all do you plan to wrap? I am interested in seeing somebody wrap the back plastics such as wheel wells. I know some have carpet, but that whole back area just seems industrial to me.
