Are 4th Gen seats all the same?
Are 4th Gen seats all the same?
Looking to put the 4th gen seats in my 84. After doing a search on all of the posts about 4th gen seats it looks like the very late seats 2000 - 2002 were different and better then the early 4th gen seats. Is this right?
The new model Camaros have air bags installed in their seats, so the cost is way out of hand for those guys right now. Looking for a donor car right now for the interior, will it have to be a late model Camaro to get the better seats? Thanks to the Forum for the help.

otherwise, they're all the same.
00+ went to EBONY depending on the color chosen for interior...
93-97 bird seats are the same style,98-02 bird seats are the same style..
98+ is the prefered style for bird seats..
93-97 camaro seats are ugly no matter what, 98+ arent bad... IMO.

If you're looking for a donor car I would stick to the trans ams and skip the camaros. And if you really want the airbag seats just wait for a deal don't sacrifice I got mine for $50 on ebay and they are the most comfortable seats I have ever sat in, just need new covers and they are going in.
Re: Are 4th Gen seats all the same?
I think, but I'm not positive that all 4th gen camaro seats were the same except for leather or cloth at least I have never seen any different stock seats in any 4th gen camaro and to my knowledge there was never any airbag seats in a 4th gen camaro or for that matter any camaro, the closest I have seen is the lier siegler (however it's spelled) but they were manual and no airbags. But the firebird and trans am had different seats they had a standard seat similar to the camaro seats but I have heard they are more comfortable than the camaro seats however the Trans ams got the airbag seats, as far as differences I'm not completely sure other than in 1998 they moved the airbag module to the passenger seat where it had been on the driver side before that. But I do see aftermarket seat covers only come for the 93-97 models (in trans am seats), so I'm unsure if anything else is different, however 1adan said he could get me a set of seat covers for the 98-02 seats (so don't let that discourage you).

Thanks for the great information on the seats. I just got a complete interior out of a 00 Trans Am and you are correct about the seats. Better then the Camaro seats for sure and very comfortable to say the least. Thanks again for that tip about the Bird's seats, houstonvett

I'm considering buying some grey leather seats from a 1997 4th gen firebird, but they don't have the power lumbar stuff. Are they still very comfortable compared to the power lumbar ones?
Thanks.
Thanks.
