how come my fuel level and coolant temp gauges dont work?

I swapped in a 2002 4th gen firebird dash in my trans am and got 97 gauges for it. The tach gauge works as well as the volt gauge, lights work also. The fuel gauge goes to 0 when i switch the ignition to on but doesnt go past that. i have the wire from the sender unit hooked up to A2 on the plug but nothing happes A1, A5 nad A13 all have power and the fuel sender unit works fine. Is the resistance the same? or do i need some sort of resistor?

The water temp gauge just goes from off to max and stays there when the ignition is on the on. The temp. sensor is new and it is connected to A17.

am i missing anything here?

I can't remember the pin locations off the top of my head but try this:

if you are sure you have ignition power on one side of the gauge, then disconnect the water temp and fuel level. Jump the water temp plug directly to the block and you're gauge should move to the max position. If not, you have a break in the wire or a bad sending unit. Do the same for the fuel level wire. Jump the sending unit wire going to the gauge (NOT THE IGNITION) directly to ground and you should be able to watch the gauge move as you ground it. If not, you have a bad connection.

Check fuses? Maybe a bad ground? Does the gauge have a voltage regulator?
