Moisture on inside of windshield and hatch

I keep my car (1984 Firebird) outside under a cover. The cover is supposed to be breathable, and repels rain. It's not completely waterproof, as a long, hard rain will penetrate it.
Recently, I noticed when I pull off the cover, the INSIDE of both the front windshield and the rear hatch are wet. I'm not sure what could cause this. I live in NY and it's getting cold now. I bought some Rid Damp and put it in the car, but I was wondering if anyone had an idea what could be causing this. I don't have any leaks, and this happens when the car has been idle for a while, like a week or so, so I can't blame the heater core.
Thanks, guys!

Re: Moisture on inside of windshield and hatch

The day temps vs. the night temps are causing the car to condensate inside. Without the cover, the sun will evaporate the moisture. Because it's still dark under the cover, it's warming up but not evaporating. Sounds like your setting yourself up for a mildew fest.

Thanks. I'm hoping the Rid Damp keeps this under control. It's made for damp basements, and I got a couple of containers and put 2 under the hatch, a "sachet" packet under the windshield and a sachet packet on the back carpet. I'll keep a watch on it and see what happens. I didn't have this problem last winter...

you can throw a few of thes things in there. they are made for absorbing moisture and its what 99% of every shipping manufacturer uses for drying out things.

another thing you might want to do is get a metal carport or try to build it a tent from a tarpolium and metal poles. other than that water seems to find a way in no matter what.
