Best Carpet Supplier

Guys, I have my 92 interior stripped down to sheet metal and I am currently installing sound mat and then replacing the carpet. Who out there sells the BEST third gen carpet on the market?

Re: Best Carpet Supplier

Unless someone has some really old inventory lying around, you're going to get carpet from ACC no matter who you buy from. They're the only company that makes it anymore.

Re: Best Carpet Supplier

How was Stock interiors,I called them and they sent me samples, are they OK to deal with.I liked the material they sent matches really well.
The only thing I don't care for is the carpet is two pieces,I want one piece.
How does the two piece look.

Re: Best Carpet Supplier

Mine is the same as yours,1piece from under the dash to the back of the rear seats.
Stock Interiors only offers a two piece kit that is separated just under the the rear of the front seats and overlaps their right where the seat belt housing is,for the 86 TA.However
the do offer a one piece for some of the later models.

Re: Best Carpet Supplier

I picked up my rear black carpet off ebay. Good quality, feel and fit, minor trimming on the end as it was a bit long.

Been in there a year now. Will probably replace the front carpet next year.

Pics of the carpet on in my build log in my sig.

from the factory the vehicles have a 2 piece carpet

one is the cargo area and the other is the passenger

stockinteriors.com matches that

you can buy the passenger area or the cargo area, or both which is what is called the 2-piece

my passenger rug is going in today after i tighten the tilt column on the steering wheel

my cargo area was in good shape. I also have a headliner and sun visors due to arrive on Monday from stockinteriors

they are like most Ebay "stores" who basically set up a web presence and then source the parts. You'll find that with remanufactured engines as well despite all the claims that "we are the manufacturer"

heck, if you need decent seat covers (more than $100), you can go through iggee on ebay or go to coverking on Amazon and pay less for the same exact product.

Classic Industries has a few different manufacturer options to choose from as does Rick's Camaro.

Re: Best Carpet Supplier

With rare exception, we all sell ACC carpet. The good news is, the ACC stuff is very good stuff. I used to deal ACS carpet because it was a much better material than the ACC stuff, but ACC bought ACS and now uses the Dorsett carpet material from ACS in their products.

Re: Best Carpet Supplier

I put in the ACC carpet resold by stockinteriors.com. I only had to trim a little and it looks good. I'm putting in the new black interior pieces, the reupholstered seats in black/gray leather, the new headliner and visors and then I'll post photos

But, ACC seems OK to me. It's just question of finding a reseller that can live with less profit margin and give the better deal. Since they don't stock the rug, it ships from the actual supplier, and they get paid in advance, the resellers aren't really exposed much financially so shop around for the lowest price.

Re: Best Carpet Supplier

Think I'm going with stockinteriors.com. they seem to have everything I'm looking for.
Carpet,Sun visors,T Top,Q panels and I think I'm going for the dash cover after I find out how good the covers are. That's going to be my next Question on the forum.
Thanks for the info.

basically you are going to spend a lot. They don't answer the phone because I think they work day jobs but send them an inquiry with what you want and ASK for a discount. They get paid in advance and then order the items from their suppliers so it's just a cash movement process with them and never encumbers their own cash so since you are buying a bulk, why not ask them to make a little less per item but they will still make some money and you get a discount, even if it's 5%

Tony, can you get the carpet uncut in the rear? For the back seat bolts. Don't have the seat so I want the carpet to be long enough to reach my box. Thanks

Re: Best Carpet Supplier

On all of the ACC carpets you have to poke your own holes for the seat bolts. So you should be all set with it.

This is good news. Does ACC still have their premium line?

Yeah, they carried the Essex line over from ACS. It's nice stuff. Feel free to PM me for more info/samples.

Re: Best Carpet Supplier

I'm curious how much of a difference the padding under the carpet makes? 1A do you offer up graded padding or just the standard jute padding. Anyone notice any difference between the two?

Re: Best Carpet Supplier

sorry I missed this - the stock carpets usually have more padding (ACC just covers the footwell areas), but you can reuse your old stuff if its not too far gone. The factory carpets have a heavier backing on them than the regular ACC line, but they do offer the upgrade as well. We don't yet carry the Essex materials, but Jim can help ya there if you want to go that route

Thank you! Am I correct in saying that the photo appears to have a split between the front seats and the rear? That's the 2 piece non OEM style I'm trying to avoid. Is this comes with the cargo too that would be great.

yeah, that's what we get for using a "stock" photo; its just a generic carpet picture (although ACC is working to get photos of all their different carpet kits). This carpet will be split the same as the original carpet - behind the rear seat.

Re: Best Carpet Supplier

looks like the adhesive on the back jute (padding) wasn't completely cured when they started moving it around. if you have an issue with adjusting it or installing, please let me know.

otherwise, you're making me itch to do mine. not a fan of thread bare, stained, and burned carpet so much....

I know what you mean. If my interior didnt get ripped out during the floor restoration at the shop, I probably would be in the same boat.

Re: Best Carpet Supplier

I got mine with the console cut out and I still had to do a lot of cutting. Cutting in areas with the backing pad SUCKS. I used my old carpet as a template and the console on mine was larger.

all of the carpets will require trimming around the edges, since they use a single size carpet "blank" to mold the carpet; the console cutout makes it a little easier to lay it in place while making the cuts.

SMKNTRS has the right idea - use the original as a basic template to get things close out of the car, and then do you final cuts in the car.
