I'm debating on putting the Ebony leather seats out of a 98-02 in my car. The only thing I'm not sure about is the color. My carpet and everything is solid black. The 4th gen seats have more of a grey color to them right? Post up some pics I want to see what they look like!

 

Yes, the later 4th gen Ebony seats are DEFINITELY not black as the name implies. Ebony is basically a dark charcoal color, but the closest thing you could get to black from 98-02.

If you've got a black interior in your 3rd gen, Ebony seats would not be a 100% match. Nonetheless, it's probably still your best option for seats, unless you can source some nice Black leather 94-96 seats -- those are significantly harder to find though.

 

 

noob question but whats the 2 buttons on the center console?? my 3rd gen is all manuel, but i want ot change it

 

perhaps score some 93-96 cloth seats for cheap, then throw on replacement black leather seat covers?

I don't know why they're calling it ebony, my buddy has a 95z28 and his leather seats are straight BLACK.

 

Contact some of the suppliers of recovering kits and ask for a sample of their leather or ultraleather material. Most should be fine sending you a swatch...

 

Two outer are power window switches. Middle one is power pass mirror or hatch release? Bottom two dunno, they're aftermarket.

 

Sorry a lil off topic but what year/car is that steering wheel from

 

the middle on top is that hatch release the mirrors are on the driver side door

 

ok the other two switches are for my fans. i put in 4th gen dual fans and a flexalite controller. the switches control all off or all on.

the seats are from a 1998 camaro.

the steering wheel is from a 2000 camaro i believe.

and the little light in the middle of the other two switches tells me when the fans are on.

 

Close...it's a 1993-99 steering wheel. They came out with a new design in 2000 to allow for the steering wheel radio controls that became standard with the uplevel Monsoon sound system.

 

i knew it was somewhere near there.

 

If I remember right these are out of a 2002 trans am.

Anyone have an idea on an avg. price for a decent set of 4th gen seats?

 

i put in 4th gen front and rear seats. had to cut the bar that was there for the 3rd gen seats. other than that they work great and fold down.

 

i was wondering if you dont have power front seats and you get power front seats how do you hook it up to the track and things like that, or do i have to find a manual set. and the whole set is direct bolt in right? so like any seat from a 1982-2002 camaro/firebird will work?

 

Yes, ANY seat will interchange. You will have to wire the electric seats in though- do a search...

A little question that I haven't found the answer to with a search.
Will the six-way power (front, back, tilt front up/down, tilt back up/down) tracks, from a 4thgen work on 3rdgen seats in a 3rdgen? I want to keep my seats and would like to make them power. I know that it's just 4 bolts and run a power wire. But what about the side plastic cover molding?

I don't know about Camaro seats but I just figured I'd mention 00-02 TA seats are more of a black than the 98-99 seats. My 89 GTA has black leather seats and the seats in my 01 TA are just as dark. I have a wrecked 00 also that's going to be the donor for my LS1 swap into the GTA, it's seats are the same darker color as the 01.

 

Be careful when buying seat covers. I got these from an aftermarket company whose name escapes me now, they were supposed to be black. Fail.
