Does anyone have a breakdown on how many Trans Am's came with the electronic dash option from 1985-1989? I've seen several GTA's from around '87 to '89 with them; I know they were supposed to be offered in '85 and '86 but I've never seen one of those year models with one.

Second question, are there any resources for getting one rebuilt if any of the lights and/or electronics have ceased to function properly? Anyone here rebuild them or know of a place that does?

They do many digital dashes and led taillights.

They did my buds 80s 280Zs digital dash when it messed up.

 

When I worked for GM, They told me there was only 2 Places in the Country that could fix/rebuild the factory Digital Dash for third gens.

That was 11 years ago

 

Instrumentclusters.com did mine. They practically overhauled mine, even buffed the gage faces and reset my mileage so everything works 100%. Even got me a brand new speedo, mine was broken. $300. Retrofitted it into my '88.

 

Always have to chime in on a digital dash thread. To answer your first question, I have no statistics on 1985s, but there were 878 1986 Trans Ams with digital dash. I don't have the stats on 87' and 88' but it should be easy to find those stats. My 86' has the digital dash option. Heres a photo of my dash, you can see the 85-86 dash had a different RPM gauge than the later ones.

 

While back I bought an interior from a guy who'd parted out a wrecked TA. Along with the interior he gave me an interior/dash harness said to be from a digital dash car.

Any idea how I could tell if that's truly what it is? Thanks!
