Front Seat Belts not locking?
Hey guys, I came across a issue with both of my front seat belts in my 86 trans am. When coming to a panic stop or under hard braking my seat belts dont lock to protect the passengers from moving forward? I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if there is a fix for it?
Thanks

Re: Front Seat Belts not locking?
They don't usually. You'd lose traction and slide (which lessens the stopping forces) before you'd get enough forward momentum from the stopping action) for the belts to catch. They are designed to work when you hit something, not under hard braking - you really just can't brake that hard.

As camaronewbie said, you lose the traction which lessens the stopping forces, have you tried a hard quick jab on the brake pedal at a relatively slow speed??
That would usually do it for you!!

Also, your seat backs should not flop forward, under the same conditions!!
Try this with the seat backs in the normal upright seating position, and not in the "gangster" position!!
