LED's replacements for interior lights
Today I swapped in a LED panel for my rear hatch light - worked really well, cost under $5. Order this from ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWNX%3AIT
Removed pigtail, and removed light cover/socket. Took festoon bulb out, and bent the longer copper terminal inwards some. Inserted LED panel in the fixture under the copper contacts, and stuck the enclosed springy festoon adapter in between the two contacts, plugged it all up. Here's pics to explain:

Re: LED's replacements for interior lights
These LED panels are great - very bright, and no heat which means no yellowing or cracking of the light covers! And they are really cheap - if you wait 2-3 weeks to receive from Hong Kong, ebay has these things for under $5 and free shipping!
I had done the same to the dome light last year, but never got pics. For it, I used a 48 LED panel. But I cut the ends from the socket and the LED, and striaght wired it - that way I could use the festoon bulb contacts as a holder of sorts to hold the panel in place. You can see in the pic below how it holds, I have one of the festoon bulb contacts circled in red. pic 2 off, pic 3 on (this is in daylight):

1992 RS. Mine originally had the hatch light, but not the switch. I swapped in a rear panel with switch & light.
