82-84 vs 85-92 Carpet
82-84 vs 85-92 Carpet
Went to look at a 83 parts camaro today and the carpet was in good shape. I noticed when you buy carpet for third gens online they have 82-84 carpet, and then they have 85-92 carpet. My car is an 88 and wanted to know what the differences are and if it will work with any success.

i think the carpet has a different vynl floor thing on the drivers side floor if you lift up you carpet you may find that you need to repair you floor pans i lifted up mine to repair what i thought was one bad spot and its ending up with 2 patches and fiber glassing the floor right now theres a hole that fits a size 12 boot right through it no problem

Re: 82-84 vs 85-92 Carpet
So I was curious on this one myself, and I did some digging with the help of ACC. Fit wise they are pretty close, but there are a couple slight changes regarding length at the firewall (early version's 2-4" longer) and the height at the trans tunnel (later version was slightly higher from console forward). Since these areas are hidden once the rest of the interior's been installed, these subtle differences wouldn't really be seen
Hope this helps!

Thanks man, def helps. I did already install the carpet. Seems like there is a lil slack everywhere on it, but it really looks nice. Im going to see if I can fit it a little better today.

not uncommon to have some excess around the edges; all carpets are cut from the same size blank thats about 70" wide and rough trimmed to leave some extra around the edges. Some have also recommended using sandbags to weigh down in some of the molded corners to help get the carpet to settle into place
