two-tone gta seats?

I just bought a 1989 Gunmetal Grey GTA. I've seen medium dark grey seats listed as an option before and seen solid grey seats in other vehicles. However mine are grey and black. Is this original or a swap from another year model? https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/memb...gta-seats.html

Re: two-tone gta seats?

To my knowledge, a two tone seat was never offered in any factory GTA. If the seats aren't in 'like new' condition, chances are that someone took your car to an upholstery shop years ago and had the two tone job done custom.

They might be 4th gen seats 'cause the backrests don't look like the ones in my car.

Yeah, the backrest area of the rear seats definitely looks the same as my '02...I never got a set of rear seats with my cloth 87-92 front Ultima seats for my '91, so I can't really verify if they're different without looking at another third gen.

A better way to tell (for me anyways) would be to look at the front seats, assuming they are Ultimas as they should be.

87-92 has the large adjustable headrests with the large side crank ***** to move the headrests forward and backward.

93-95 is same as 87-92, but with a slightly smaller and no longer forward and backward adjustable headrest.

96-97 is the same as 93-95, except the lower front cushion sections were fixed and no longer adjustable.

98-02 is similar to 96-97, but has the VERY small, nearly flat headrests that are also not adjustable forward and backward. However, this is the ONLY Ultima seat that is 6 way power adjustable.

For what it's worth, the 1987-92's are my favorite. I always thought the tiny headrests in the 98-02 cars were flimsy and cheap looking.

I've seen several of those black with gray insert seats in formulas, they're just like the red with gray.
