Refurbishing steering wheel.

Hello,

My steering wheel is getting pretty beat up, but I don't want to replace with aftermarket. I know I can reupholster the leather wrap, but is there anything to do about the wear in the middle, and where the airbag is poking through the seams?

Thanks,
Sam

Re: Refurbishing steering wheel.

Ok, here are a couple pics. You can see how in the center of the steering wheel, there is a plastic piece with what looks like foam poking through. I've been looking a pictures of wheels for sale, and see that some come with the center, some don't. Is the center cover re-upholsterable also, or a separate part? Also a pic of my shift ****. I really want to retain the stock one, but they've stopped producing them. Is this something that can be re-covered?

Thanks,
Sam

Re: Refurbishing steering wheel.

can get you the center airbag unit (it is all one piece, the leather typically curls around the edges) in very nice shape for $60 plus shipping...
