Lost my hatch key....

I have an 87 Z28, the keys been gone for a while and it's become a real pain not being able to open my hatch, especially when working on building a sub box to fit back there and such. Is there a universal factory key that I could get or do I have to replace the whole locking mechanism?

Appreciate the input

Thats how mine is to. But you could also have a locksmith try open it.

Another option is pull the cylinder and take it to a locksmith. Make sure you use a locksmith with an actual office you can go into, it will cost less. Then you can either have it keyed to match the doors, if it is different, or have a key made for that cylinder. Either way should be around $15-30 in most cases.
