Re: Footwell lighting etc
It's fairly simple, just remove the dash pad and the plastic shroud around gauges, then you'll see 6 (or maybe 8) screws that hold in the cluster. Just tilt it forward and pull it out. I did have to lower my column a bit to make it easier, but I already had my plastics off, so it was no big deal.
I replaced my old dim 168's with fresh new 194's, it made a BIG difference. If I ever go LED in there I'll probably go with red, to look like newer Pontiacs.

Re: Footwell lighting etc
All done. Bought them all online. For my footwell lights they're a 914 bulb with three forward facing LEDs and claim to be the brightest avaliable to consumers for 914's. I dont't doubt this. I have never seen so much light from such a small bulb. I've got a panel LED with a festoon adapter for my dome. And I'm using forward facing LEDs for the mirror lights. All a nice 6000K
These pictures are a terrible representation, I'll try taking some tonight.

This is what the floor lights are - http://www.v-leds.com/Interior-LED-B...87987-1-2.html
They are dangerously bright. Can't even explain. 194 type bulb
This is the mirror lights - http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED-B...81133-1-2.html
had to go with a slightly smaller bulb cuz the space in the mirror is extremely small. Also very bright.
Last but not least this is my dome light - http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewi...d=571666056014

Look what I bought earlier...

Cant even beat a $3.29 LED panel and connection set with a cheap pretty penney.
Coming from Hong Kong with free shipping!!!!! But we'll see how long it takes to arrive.

Re: Footwell lighting etc
That's an amazing deal! Shipping should take a week in a half or so. Should fill the dome light quite nicely.

I love the way the dome looks, I figured since my stock bulb was bright enough a brighter bulb should do the job for me. If not, Im definitely going to order one of those.

Maybe I'll take a close-up of the dome tomorrow. It really does give off a TON of light.

Re: Footwell lighting etc
Well both of my footwell lights have quit working, the pass side went about ten seconds sooner than the driver side. This happened while starting the car with the door open, and when I took the driver side one out it did feel a little hot.
I've got two more on the way, but if it happens again I'll be going back to 194's.

Re: Footwell lighting etc
I just installed my 36 LED board into my dome light. Let me tell you. Have you heard the saying, "the dear froze in my headlights"
?
Thats how I felt when the damn board lit up. That crap is BRIGHT!!!!! When it lit up, I froze for a split second because it was so bright. While stunned, in a split second, I contemplated on pulling the board or drive on and continue the install while being horrifically and temporarily blind. But after the installation of the map lights and the dome light, I must say, IT IS NIIIIIICE. It is a must to have this cheap mod. Gotta love it!

Re: Footwell lighting etc
Well I think I'm done with the LED's. My 36-led panel stopped working after one week. I was working on my radio and my door was open 5 minutes max, looked up and no dome light. Is it just me, or are these things junk.

I think it may be bad luck. I had my dome light on for about 6 hours during a club meeting and she is still running top notch.

Re: Footwell lighting etc
Apparently the dome LED's will work if I push the button on the overhead console, but not when I open the doors or use the headlight dial. The footwell lights still work normally.
I'm even more confused now.

Re: Footwell lighting etc
LEDs are strange and in most cases you get what you pay for. Sometimes it's worth shelling out the few extra bucks to ensure they'll work properly and for longer. Since I bought sorta pricey ones, I still haven't had any problems with mine yet. It can be a hit or miss type thing. Just gotta check all leads.

Re: Footwell lighting etc
I installed my dash LED's, ordered a new dome light and changed my heater light also. Im hopefully installing the foot well lights sometime this week and ill probably change the rear view mirror lights too. The dash isn't as bright as i'd like but at night it looks pretty good. The dome was bright enough but I want it to be extremely bright so i ordered a panel.

Are these footwell lights stock or after market? And are they on camaros or just firebirds/trans am?

Re: Footwell lighting etc
As far as what I did on mine, I just used the stock locations that come on all 82-92 fbodies and swapped out the crappy dim incandescent bulbs for brighter, better looking LEDs.

Sorry to be more specific to my question, are these footwell lights on all 82-92 f bodies? I never seen one in my 91 camaro.

On my 86, it had them as OEM. But is special because I have the Boss kick panel speakers.

Re: Footwell lighting etc
Basically on all 82-92's that I've seen, Camaros and birds, there is a small light above the drivers feet as well as above the passengers feet. It's covered by a small yellow lens on each side. All I did was replace these factory bulbs with LEDs

Re: Footwell lighting etc
Yup. True. But the 3rd gens with the Bose kickpanels had the little bulb holder because of the bulkyness of the passenger side kickpanel. It covers the entire hole that houses the bulb on the hush panel.

Re: Footwell lighting etc
For my 86 IROC, there is one simple with a recess cut out for the light bulb house plug (insert and turn plug to lock in place type). Same thin on the passenger side bush panel. A dimple with the cut out like how I just described. But also, on the Bose kickpanels, there is 2 little holes drilled in the upper corners where there is used be the light holders.

Does anyone know if a '91 Z would have footwell lighting on the passenger side? If so, were is it located exactly?
I do see one on the driver's side, but not the passenger.
Thanks
