Re: digital dash swap?

The swap can be done, at least from a digital dash car to a non-digital car. To do it right though, you will need the whole set up. All of the sensors, wiring harnesses, the panels that suround the cluster since they are different, etc. The digital dashes had a lot of extra sensors for the doors, fluid levels, etc. If you have a complete doner though, I would think it wouldn't be too difficult.

Re: digital dash swap?

I've seen a few full digital dash set ups for sale both on here and on ebay, if you look hard you can find one without having to search for a whole car. I have a spare cluster for my 86' I picked up here recently. I don't see the digital cars parted out too often though, and have never seen one in a junk yard...they either go quick or the yard workers pull them and sell them off fast. Might take some searching. Worth it though, my 86' Trans Am is a digital dash car and the cluster gets a lot of looks and comments, especially from other third gen owners who have never seen one.

Re: digital dash swap?

yeah i bet. im just worried about the pricing, and how all the wiring is going to work for me. i mean, it would be awesome, but its my daily driver right now, so pulling it apart to do this couldnt take longer than a weekend...

Re: digital dash swap?

I'm about to tackle this job pretty soon. I have an entire digital dash from an '88 GTA that I'm gonn swap into my '92 GTA. I just recently purchased the interior body harness that runs back to the tail lights. Hopefully I'll get started with this project soon when I get my car back from the body shop from being painted. I'm installing a new Beechwood colored interior, so I guess installing the dash at the same time will be ideal since the interior will be totally gutted out. I'm really looking forward to getting started on the interior project.
