seat belt replacement

ok, i've spend about an hour searching, and i only came up with ONE article, that wasn't really complete about interchanging 4th gen seat belts. It appears they do NOT really interchange? Or do they? I have an 87 t-top car, that i just got black seats for and REALLY need new seatbelts. Mine have 150K on them and are just worn out. Even the webbing is in pretty bad shape. And NO ONE appears to make replacements that will fit. So, does anyone have in really good shape, black front and rear seat belts that will fit an 87? Or has someone put in 4th gen seatbelts, and found ones that fit right? Any help appreciated!

Re: seat belt replacement

Travis401, I did go thru that thread. it SAYS the seat belts will work out of a 4th gen, but i didn't really find what/if mods were necessary for the front belts. My 87 is, unfortunately, the last year for lap belts in rear, but that doesn't matter so much as no one rides back there anyway. Its the fronts that concern me, specifically the retractor fitting onto the ceiling and working right. If it DOES bolt up, then i've found a bunch from 4th gen cars. If you gotta mod it, or it tears up the headliner, I need to find 3rd gen ones. But aside from that one article from 2003, i'm not finding anything about specifically bolting up 4th gen front belts into a 3rd gen. I'd really like to hear from someone who has done it and see pictures. I don't want to wind up buying something that won't work well on my car.

Re: seat belt replacement

tried ricks, tried hawks, tried youngs, tried gmpartsdirect, and some others. NO ONE makes these things anymore. You can get them for 1st gens! Go figure. I found a nice seller on e-bay who had some black ones out of a 90 camaro, So i bought those. Hopefully they will fit and work.

Re: seat belt replacement

4th gen belts WILL bolt in. you will have to either fab something or live with the gap where it bolts to the floorboard as they didnt have the large cover like the 3rd gens do. The ceiling mounts are identical.
