swaping steering columns 82-92
i have a 92 camaro RS and the bearing is messed up to the point i can just move the steering wheel all over the place.
I have a 1982 camaro that is not running and was wondering if i could pull the column out of the 82 and rewire it to work on the 92.
The 92 camaro already has the airbag assembly completly removed and the vatts systems was already removed when i bought the car so those should cause no problems.
Was just going to buy a aftermarket column but nobody seems to offer them for our cars so any help if i can do this swap would help me out alot since i need to get my car up and running again as fast as possible

I believe that the steering columns are all the same. At least that's what hubby was saying the other day when we were working on one of our cars.
I've got an original 92 steering column, complete with the airbag.

The basic mechanics are the same across a wide range of 3rd Gens.
The caveat will be the bolt on accessories like ign, h-light dimmer,
turn-signal, cruise, & wiper switches, etc.
The closer you can get to your exact model, the fewer headaches
you're likely to experience. But take yours out, and do a rigorous
side by side comparison w/ the replacement unit, and you should
be able to get it properly configured. Worst case, see if you can
just salvage the worn-out piece from the replacement unit.
Good luck.
