85 Shifter Button Broke

I have the ball style shifter in my 85 and this morning as I was moving my arm I bumped the button sticking out of the top of the shifter and broke it off. I can see on the inside of the button that there is a piece of plastic that is supposed to be attached to the inside of the shifter.

Anyone know how to fix it, or where to get a new one?

Thanks.

See what's broken or loose in there. Could just be the C-clip on the inside bottom of the ball popped off.

Re: 85 Shifter Button Broke

There is a yellow-ish piece of rectangle plastic that comes thru the shifter that attaches to the bottom of the shifter button. That is what broke. Nothing happened to the ball part or any c-clips.

Yes. It broke off underneath the big black button.

I think I've got a button with the rod around here somewhere, you need both or just the rod? PM or email me your email address for pics and other info, Henry

So I'm guessing the button can be replaced instead of the whole shift ****? I'll send you a pm for a pic request.
