Does anyone know what modifications are needed to install the rear seats?
I've been looking for a nice set of 5th Gen seats, and looking at complete sets. But not sure about those rear seats and if they'll fit. The picture above makes me think they will fit, but no idea what was needed to be done to make them fit. Anyone know anything about this car? Is this person a member here?
Do they maintain the tilt/slide functionality for rear passenger access? Or do you have to slowly power them forward?
Both seats have a handle in the middle back that you pull and they tilt forward. They do not do the same tilt/collapse/slide forward that the stock 3rd gens do. On mine (not SS style) only the driver is powered so you would have to power that forward to move it up further. The pass seat is non powered (I actually prefer that) and you pull a lever which allows you to slide the seat forward easily. So access to the back is not that much more different than the stock 3rd gen. Its pretty easy for me to put a car seat in the back seat which I have done for my son.
update, the two largest wires when tapped into will control everything on the seats(other than airbags obviously)
im about to go put these in because ive finally got a few hours free.this si what they look like installed in a third gen
Ok what center console is this that you put in the 3rd gen for cup holders?
Yea, console looks custom so does the rear seat bottom cushion area. Plus you can see the dash has been wrapped in leather and the door panel on the pass side. It's highly modified but looks good.
I have 5th Gens in my 84 now, there is a guy on FB who sells the brackets to do this conversion.
Here is a thread on FB he replies in the thread, just message him.
There is some cuttings needed on the 5th gen seats tracks to make it work, but it wasn't that bad.
The 5th gen seats are so much better compared to the 4th gen seats I had before. Bonus I now have power seats on both sides.

Send me a PM and I will send you his email.
I did the swap last month
Thanks I just sent him a email, hopefully picking these seats up after work. Any pointers I should be aware of? Might buy the dash for a future swap too if I can get it cheap

Just bought a nice set of SS seats leather for 500$ (pretty nice seats for a 2013 Camaro), almost bought the dash but I think 🤔 I want the 2018 dash, door panels and center console if I actually do the upgrade.
So I picked up these nice leather SS seat for 500$, pretty nice for a 2013. Waiting to get car back from shop (installing a new gas tank) ready to have these installed

Any chance you could send me the guy's email and/or facebook for these brackets? Also I'm curious how might higher the 5th gen seats sit than the 4th gen seats. I'm 6'5'' so it's important that I don't end up sitting any higher!

Not gona work for you more than likely. The 5th gens sit higher than 3rd and 4th gen by a good bit. And no way to lower them due to the track design. I’m 6’1” and while I have a few inches maybe from the ceiling it’s not a whole lot and I’m sure my seats are lower than most. Any adapters would likely add more height due to plate thickness or design.

don't know exact measurements but it's definitely higher. im 6'0" and my head touches unless I lean back a bit. Depends on your sitting style.... no way you're sitting upright like a race position. More of a gangster lean and you might be alright lol.
after some careful consideration i stuck with 3rd gen seats ,ive got a set of 5th gen seats in my garage but after test fitting and being 6' 4" i already hit the roof.im kinda pissed but only paid $100 (cloth ,like the red car above)
There's another variable in this equation to take into account or check. The type of headliner in your car. I am 6.0 and my seats always have been used in the backmost position. But I don't use much of a recline. When my car had the OEM headliner in it there was barely a finger space between top of my skull and the headliner. Of course with Houston, Texas sun and heat over many years the material covering the headliner drooped from the backing. When I got the headliner out to be recovered I did not like the condition the formed fiber backing was in so I sourced a hard plastic aftermarket replacement. Got it covered with correct material at upholstery shop and I did the reinstall. Nice surprise after install was that I had between 1/2 to 1 inch more clearance between my head and liner. The hard plastic aftermarket part was molded with a much closer fit to the roof contour than the OEM one was.

yeah, I somewhat recently replaced mine with the plastic shell headliner and it definitely adds at least an inch of headroom if not more.
so did any one figure out or have pictures of the tracks to make this work. i wan to do this with cts v recaros. tired of leaning back in stock third gen seats!
Yea here is a pic of one of my seats, they are basically the same though so you just reproduce for the other side. I welded my brackets to the frames (front is 1/8" flat stock that runs and connects both front legs and rear L brackets are 3/16" steel). I had to trim off the OE mounting brackets on the seat rails but this allows me to literally go as low as possible. I also utilize the front inside OEM hole on the track to mount on the OE stud on the floor board then making brackets is pretty easy.
Got the 2011 seats today. Passanger side of the SS was crushed in from a good T bone wreck. Passanger seat frame was toast but I got all of the other pieces from it so I just have to find a new frame for the seat. Back seat in perfect shape also.
To swap out the seats will take a little fab work to get it done. The 3rd Gen seats have wider frame tracks under the seat then the newer guys. The 3rd Gen cars have a cantered bolt setup for mounting their seats and the newer Camaro's are more in a straight line then the previous years. The newer guys have J hooks on the front of the seat track and just get locked into place by pulling the seat back into place and then fastening the rear of the seat frame to the chassis with a bolt. The back of the newer seat frames also have locating pins along with the bolts to make sure the seat is installed correctly.
I will cut off the old mounting tabs from the original seats that came in the 85. It will take a little time to figure out excatly where the old mounting tabs will have to go on the newer seat frames. The newer seats are very close in size to the 2000 TA seats, so there should be no problem with the seats fitting into the 3rd Gen. cars and looking good. I haven't had the time to check out the back seat configuration as of yet. The newer version has a solid mounting frame for the seat belts that goes the width of the seat. Has the drive shaft floor tunnel radius incorparated right into the design, hoefully it is very close and can be made to work.
Does anyone have contact info for guy making brackets? I see it discussed here, but no name or info. I've reached out to Fireball****** on IG too, as I think he's got a guy. Maybe the same guy.

Try Tim Waters on facebook messenger. His profile picture has him and a dog in it. He also has a black thirdgen on his homepage. He has made several of these brackets for people over the last couple of years.
Bumping this for reference. I have an offer on getting a pair of front seats out of a 14' Camaro
if comfort with current 3rd gen seats is an issue then do the swap. Best thing I did for the car. Can finally go on long drives. I can't speak for height issues that others are having as I'm not 6'4" and mines a vert.
Is there any confirmation the rear seats fit without too many issues?
If anything, I think it is the opposite. They're too wide from the factory, and the only picture I see in this thread with a leather rear seat looks like a bench seat. I'm guessing that they made something custom.
Really digging the 5th gen seat look though... Now if only they had a grey cloth version

didn’t think about just looking at the measurements. Good call. Was hoping to find an easy rear bench idea for 3 kids.

Haven’t had any issues with mine, but haven’t really drove it since it’s getting a cammed 5.3 swapped with 4L60e, and 2002 z28 rearend with 4.10s
both my babies 😂
I HAVE BRACKETS! ....I bought 'em from that guy, lol, can't remember his name. If you'd prefer to buy from him, I'll get you his name, but if you're cool with "new in box" brackets at a discount, lemme know. Went a different direction with seats. Anyhow, I've moved since I bought 'em, but I'm sure they're in the garage. I'll dig 'em up tonight.

Edit: The guy's name is Tim Waters. (on Facebook)
Let me know how much you want for them. JP
Do you have a city I can cross-reference to the name to narrow down the search?
