Rear Hatch Assembly

So, my pull down hatch motor broke when the hatch was slammed down accidentally. The motor housing was cracked so I replaced the pull down motor. The problem is, is the hatch assembly is still "down" and when I close the lid the motor runs all the time.

How do I get the guide assembly to go back into the "up" position so my hatch will pull down and lock?

Re: Rear Hatch Assembly

Have you tried using the hatch release switch to open the new latch as if the hatch were closed. or the key hole?

Re: Rear Hatch Assembly

Ive used the switch on the center console and the key. Before I replaced the motor the hatch would lock but it was loose, as it wasn't being held down all the way. After I replaced the motor it latches down completely, but the motor continues to run. As a temp fix I have unplugged the motor and the lid acts like a normal hatch that I have to physically close.

Re: Rear Hatch Assembly

I've had similar problems with mine so I disassembled it and greased the slides and gears with synthetic grease that came with the repair parts from Top Down Solutions. You also want to make sure all your electrical connections are good and nothing is preventing the hatch from being pulled down freely. There's a little switch just above the motor and behind the plug that you can flip up and down with a small pick....it's there but you have to look. Flip it up or down to simulate the hatch moving up or down and see how it operates. I haven't had any problems since doing this......knock on wood.....good luck
