D27 locking rear storage/cargo cover install?

Got one of the super rare folding rear carpeted storage covers out of an 86 T/A at a Pullapart a little while back, and trying to install it now.

Both my car (91 T/A) and the donor car have the electric rear hatch pull-down, so no problems there. Amazingly, the carpet color is almost a dead-on match to my car as well. I didn't know the rear trim panels were different for cars with the locking cover, so I didn't have the insight to pull that panel from the donor car. Not too worried about that, I'll improvise with some added rubber bump stop extensions or something similar.

My question pertains to actually mounting the storage cover in the car...originally, there were plates welded to the body of the cars that had this option, which the screws would fit in to. I have read the installation guide on here ( https://www.thirdgen.org/locking ), but it does not mention anything about what size drill bit to use or what kind of hardware to use to attach it. With the mounting location being where it is, I am worried about drilling into the gas tank underneath. Also, I don't see how a couple of screws are going to hold this thing in without any screw retainers or nuts mounted underneath the body for them to go in to, and I really don't want to remove the entire rear suspension/exhaust/gas tank to install this.

Has anyone else done this before? What kind of hardware did you use to mount it, and did you have to drop the gas tank?

Sorry bro, I have never seen that option until I became apart of this forum. Were there any other good part on that 86' T/A? I live in Columbia and I am looking for rocker panels, couple interior plastics and even a decent looking piece of carpet (I am too cheap to buy new stuff although I might just have to.)

Re: D27 locking rear storage/cargo cover install?

I'm afraid that car is lonnnng gone by now. They usually don't keep their cars for more than a couple of months. Carpet was trashed because it had no t-tops in it, so it was basically a nasty cesspool. Had to dig through it with disposable gloves to find the overhead console parts. Didn't look at the rockers since they didn't fit my car. Interior plastics might have been okay, but it's too late now...
