Firebird light over radio pod
ok, the light over my radio pod ( I am not sure what it is called) is not working. I am assuming the bulb blew since I have not tested it yet and it was working just the other day. Anyone know where to get this odd ball type of bulb??

Good luck, need to grab one from the Junk yard. I don't think GM has them anymore.
I have quite a few cars that don't even have a light in there.

It's not even close to being a regular bulb... I took mine apart years ago when I found out it was blown. Go to RadioShack and find one of their surface mount lamps (NOT an LED). You can get them in any color. Cut the connector off of the dead lamp and put it on the RS lamp. Connect it up and put it in the hole. You may not think it lights up down below, being that most of the light comes straight out, but it does. I should have gotten rid of the blue one (was on a blue kick for a while) and gone for red, though.
:edit: This is the one I bought. They come in 2 packs, in case it dies:

does this blub just snap in the existing hole? and does it get hot? I have had experience burning holes in some plastics with hot blubs.

It goes right in the hole and plugs right in when you swap the connector onto it. However, if it ever dies, you won't be getting it out very easy as that part of the dash is very cramped and deep (and it needs to be accessed from behind to release it). Mine had been going for about 7 years and counting, sometimes going all night long, nothing has burned or melted.
