Is this latch supposed to be bent like this or straight? I'm repairing the pull down unit and need to get it aligned properly... Many thanks, -Floyd

Well, I don't think it came that way from the factory. I'd suspect that it was someone's idea of a way to center the hatch in the opening so the body gaps match when it closes. If you straighten it, expect some kind of issue until you remove the trim panel and readjust the pulldown unit.

 

someone was too lazy to adjust things the right way, so they just bent it..

it's really complicated to adjust a trunk latch- it involves a 13mm socket and almost 5 minutes of time..
