Horn button wire help

I pulled the old busted steering wheel off my 89 RS camaro to make way for my new grant wheel. It has the ugly square horn steering wheel on it now. I got to looking and there was no wire to connect to the horn? There is a plastic cap that covers the whole end of the steering column around the spline that the wheel bolts to. There is a plastic tube that passes through it that looks like a conduit for a wire. I think I need to buy this http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tchlink:top:en

Am I correct? If so, how do you install it? I hope this isn't a dumb question...

The end with the plastic/spring fits in the tube and a small nub locks it into place (the tube is notched like the one in the first link). The connector end goes to the horn cap/switch. My Grant Signature Series also required a small ground wire to work. The Grant cap accommodates both a hot and ground (second link).

Autozone also carries the connector, Dorman 49319.

Ok, the tube with the notch is still in the car so I guess I have the piece shown in the first link still in the column. I need to confirm that the wire and spring in my ebay link is correct so I can order it. I assume it just clips in the tube. Where did you run the ground wire to because I got a challenger wheel similar to yours and I'll have to do the same thing I assume.

Re: Horn button wire help

I'm uncertain if the Challenger Series requires the ground wire. Your instructions should provide all the install info you need.

Good luck with your project.
