Why convert to 4th gen seat belts?
I have read a lot of threads about how to change to a 4th gen seat belts. Yet I havent found what makes them better. Is it an improvement or is it just cheaper and easier to find than 3rd gen seat belts?

Easier to find good 4th gen belts,3rd gens usually are dry rotted and have broken sleeves.

3rd gens have aretractor at the top and bottom, 4th gen just has one at the top. In theory, 4th gens are safer and more liekly to lock in an accident.
Also, less packaging at the bottom, more room for aftermarket seats.

My 86 TA has black seatbelts still in good working order. I will probably keep them untill they start to fail and switch to 4th gen seat belts then. Thanks for the replies
