I just came across this image via Google. I've never seen a car that got these storage slots before. Then again, I've never looked for it. But still.

Anybody has any information about this? Also, pictures would be really appreciated.

that was designed for the newer firebirds, a friend of mine had them. it placed the tops perfect. i also have been intrested in putting it in my camaro but i dunno if it works for our 3gens.

 

Ah, so it's a 4th gen thing?
Does it lock on both sides or is there some kind of slot for the other end?

 

There is a slot on both sides of the trunk well. The top slides down and the pins lock into holes. The top end just hangs out in mid air. A good idea from GM for a change. A few people have talked about doing the same thing for 3rd gens, don't know if it has been done yet or not though. For some reason, the PO of my 97 Formula removed them from the car, otherwise I'd get some pics for you. When I take them off I just stick them down in the well, as a 3rd gen style bag on top of the tank probably wouldn't work. 4th gen t-tops are wider.

 

I have a 4th gen car with t-tops. While the t-top holders is indeed a great idea, I actually prefer the t-top bag setup in my 3rd gen, just because I can still use that area for storage or a speaker system while the t-tops are off.
