Custom gauge faces

So, I was browsing through a few web pages at options for improving my instrument cluster, and found if you have a 90-92 cluster with a 145 speedo you're screwed.

I had white face gauges in my vette and hated them, and there's just nothing else out there. Not an option, I want my faces black.

I like some of the custom built instrument clusters on this forum, but I live in the "People's Republik of Khalifoania" and smogging your vehicle is a nightmare without an odometer or check engine light (They just won't do it, and you can't register your car)

I ordered another 145 instrument cluster to see what I could do with it creatively, but I'm not interested in doing a red neck job that gives me minimal results.

I don't want to change the graphic design radically. I like the overall stock apperance and don't wanna mess with it TOO much. I know I could just stick some LED's in the cluster to change how it looks at night, but I can't stand the yellow numbers during the day on the stock cluster (Would prefer they be white) and would prefer LED blue or Red lighting at night to go with a set of Autometer Cobalt (Blue) or Elite (Red) pillar gauges.

I found this page on Black cat custom automotive;

http://www.blackcatcustom.com/custom...tm#prettyPhoto[pp_gal]/9/

Ok, I'm interested. I sent in an inquiry via E-mail.

I figured I would just paint the needles red with some testors spray, and plug in some red or blue LED's in the back of the cluster to round out the backlighting.

Money isn't much of an issue, I just don't want to be disappointed with the results.

Thoughts anyone? Anybody ever deal with these guys before?

Re: Custom gauge faces

I checked it out, pretty cool. Doesn't offer two of the pillar gauges I want so I'm going to have to go with the ES series.
