5th Gen Steering Wheel

Okay, I've searched around here and did not really see an answer on here yet; so I'll bring it up.

Does anyone on here know of it is feasible to mount a 5th gen steering wheel in a third gen? Are the collar splines different (size/pitch)? If the splines prohibit a 'plug and play' mount, you guys think that we can by-pass this issue with a quick disconnect unit (here)?

Just wondering, I do like the look of the new wheel and the idea of wheel mounted radio controls (could care less about the airbag).

Flaming river has a similar wheel called the waterfall. Plus with the flaming river wheel, you can choose the grip color.

Re: 5th Gen Steering Wheel

I think it would look really weird and out of place in a 3rd gen. The hub is about twice the size of our cars since the steering columns are so much larger in the new ones.

It won't work at all sorry to say. The 5th gen column has a large center bolt not a splined shaft, therefore there is no splined hole in the steering wheel like prior GM wheels. If your knowledgeable with aluminum tig welding and have a plasma cutter it could happen.

Humm, well in that case, I'll have to see if I can cannibalize an entire 5th gen column and steering wheel assembly to work in a third gen.
