there's the thread. For the experts here.. what should I be sure to do while it's out? Should I pull the carpet? The car is absolutely rust free.. should I line-x it? Should I dynamat it? Should I replace the carpet? Any and all advice is more than welcomed! Thank you!

When I had mine out, even though it was a rust free car as well, I wire wheeled and used por-15 on the floor pans. Then I used dynomat over it all. Not for radio, but noise and heat. Made a big difference.

If you haven't pulled the carpet then you don't know it's rust free yet.
I would pull the carpet and probably replace it, nothing freshens up an interior like new carpet. You may find some rust starting, so get rid of that first. If it really is rust free, leave it alone. New carpet can be ordered with the padding, so not necessary to add more insulation unless the original was not sufficient for you. If you feel like it, adding some dynamat or similar over the tunnel can cut down noise and heat a lot.
Take the opportunity to really explore inside the b pillars, amazing what you might find in there. I've found all kinds of tools, cans, bolts, mouse nests, snakes, etc.

Im in the same boat minus the dash. I agree with pulling the carpet I thought mine was rust free too and there was light surface rust on the passenger floor board but if I had not found it it could have become a issue 5 to 10 years from now. Darn this thread reminded me about my t-top area ty its rusty and needs to be addressed before it gets back on the road.
