A/C Heater air flow
Not sure if this is the correct section but....
Does anyone else notice low air flow through the heat & air vents? It seems like it should flow more. The heat is good and hot and the A/C runs in the low 40's but it won't heat or cool the cabin very well.
I haven't been back under the dash lately but I believe all the ducts are sealed well.
The blower motor is working on all speeds but may possibly be weak. I leave it on max pretty much all the time.
Any ideas?

Re: A/C Heater air flow
Have you pulled the blower motor? You might have a blockage. Mice can be very destructive and you dont even know they are there until you smell them or something stops working. Make sure you dont have a rodent hotel in your HVAC box.
Then, check that the blower motor is in fact working on all speeds and up to snuff. Also check the seal around the outter HVAC box. Turn your blower on high, and make sure you dont have air escaping into the engine bay. Thats kind of unlikely, but worth checking if you dont find any blockages.
See what that gets ya.

Re: A/C Heater air flow
Thanks for the tips.
Yeah it's been a few years since I check the motor/fan. You never know what might be in there.
It's the "up to snuff" part that's got me. Yes, the fan runs at all settings and changes speed. I may have some leakage in the duct work somewhere. I'm just not sure to check the motor/fan's output.

I've noticed that too. I live in Oklahoma and in the summer heat over 100 degrees the flow just can't cool off the interior, even with cold air temp and no leaks anywhere. Is there possibly an aftermarket blower motor available that pushes more air?

Re: A/C Heater air flow
Many fan motors are decades old and have turned hundreds of thousands of revolutions. They're tired. I replaced mine several years ago and was pleasantly surprised at the outcome.

Could be your motor is just getting long in the tooth. Mine blows pretty strong.
Dont forget our cars are like big green houses. Even if you have a hard top. Most of the top of the cabin area is glass. If you do have tops, its even worse. Its hard to fight the suns rays even with modern a/c sometimes.
Let us know what you find!
