shift indicator plate replacement on my GTA
OK, so I have a new manual shift plate in my GTA now and need to replace it with a 6 speed version for my T56. Thing is, it appears to be glued in (rather well at that) and I realllly don't feel like breaking it if there is an easy way to remove it. How have you guys been doing this?
You'd think they would offer them now with the 6speed plates installed, not just the 5 speed plates...

I know I am digging this up, but I haven't been brave enough to try and take mine apart since my plate is mint
Were you able to get yours apart?????

Same boat-new Hawks shift plate and 6-speed indicator...not looking to ruin the shift plate!

Its glued in, had one fall apart on me a few years ago. Youll likely break it taking it apart
Im running an automatic shift plate with the range indicator painted black. Gear pattern is on the **** itself. Shifter range is much tighter than T5, so the small opening for the auto boot is plenty

Re: shift indicator plate replacement on my GTA
I unbolted the shifter boot from the bottom, removed it, then carefully ran a razor knife around perimeter of the little box that is glued to the shifter plate and it popped right off and the indicator lense came right out (lense isn't glued, just fits into hole on shifter plate and held there by the light box once you glue it back into place). Put my new 6-speed indicator in and used some model glue to hold box in place. Definitely suggest removing the shifter boot first as the light box is clamped between that and the plate. Otherwise, no biggie.
