I have a 91/92 style steering wheel, but the OEM leather is about toast. I wanted to get it redone, and a long time ago I found a thread on here that had some links to places who made leather wraps for these wheels.

I should have saved the sites, because I can't find it now.

Does anyone know of any places that make good leather kits?
I'm looking for one that you actually sew onto the wheel, just not a cover.

 

Plenty on ebay.Plus chuckPelton, also on ebay.I cant remember if he can do airbag wheels or not, but he does excellent work.

 

How bad is the leather ? I did the $28 Resto kit and it came out nice.

I contacted Chuck Pelton a few years ago, he cannot recover the GTA style radio control wheel because of the leather on the centre hub. Dallas Steering Wheel has them in stock, they are pricey at $369.

It was easier than I thought, kits has good instructions, have to buy some fine sand papers. Figured - what do I have to lose, $30 vs $369 ...

Also bought some leather/vinyl filler for the gaps an pock holes, cheap tho.

Kits also includes sealer so when done its protected and not sticky.

The Camaro came w/ a wheel cover - I tossed that and it has a aftermarket wheel wrap that don't look too bad, dunno where it came from, but the auto stores have wheel wraps ? Maybe they'd get you by for now, you can see the wrap und the cheesey cover.

 

Wheelskins has a good quality wrap that fits well and is made well. My original wheel leather was deteriorating fast last year. I wanted to do something but was not ready to pony up $300-400 for someone to refurb my wheel. I think their leather product was about $60 and it took me about an hour to install using their needle and waxed thread.
