How to make factory brackets work on after market seats
so i got these new seats for my car, but i have to find a way to get tbhem to work with my original brackets. the factory seats have curved bracket, and the new seats are flat on the bottem. the precut holes are to short for my brackets to fit. what should i do ? By the way its a 91 camaro if that matters. Re: How to make factory brackets work on after market seats
Indeed, the original seat pans have raised mounting points to accomodate
curved seat glides.
Possible solution:
Get some bar stock from a hardware store.
(And be advised that there is a wide variety of different stock available,
so prepare to do some shopping.)
Drill mounting holes that match your seat base.
Construct some spacers (stack of washers, cut some tubing stock, etc.)
sufficient to mount the flat bar onto the curved seat glides, then drill
drill the bolt holes.
As I point out in another thread here, 3rd gen seat glides have very specific
floor mounting patterns. IMHO it would be easier to accomplish the above,
than to wrestle with some "universal" brackets.
Good luck, & keep us posted.
