Window bumpers

Under the black trim on the top of the door inside the car are two bass colored bumpers with some felt padding on them.

They have a notch in them that a bolt goes through that allows them to slide and be adjusted.

What is the proper way to adjust these? It seems someone has messed with them in the past and I want to make sure I set them right.

Thanks.

Re: Window bumpers

Those adjusters help move the window closer or farther from the weatherstripping on the body. They should be adjusted in conjunction with the triangle seal. If your window seals well against the weatherstripping and your window rolls straight up and down there is no need to make adjustments.

Re: Window bumpers

Which way would I adjust those bumpers if the window is a little far out from the weather stripping? Mine hasn't been closing well for a while.

Re: Window bumpers

I would be interested to know too. My window tends to rock when rolled down to certain positions while driving.

Although I suspect this is due to worn out rollers in the window guids similar to the bushings on wipers.

Re: Window bumpers

If the window is not sealing against the outer window felt, loosen the guides (bumpers) and push them tighter against the window (towards the outside of the car) Don't make them too tight or the window will bind.

The service manual list the adjustment with the window halfway up.Chiltons manual also has the procedure.
