wiper conversion

Okay guys I have a 83 base model. It's a shell but was a 2.8 carbed. Automatic car. I'm converting to lsx/t56. I have a 91-92 dash in the car and I want to put the 92 wiper motor in the car to the all the delay options.Do I need a 92 steering column, just the turn signal lever or how would I convert. I've searched and only info I found was on like 85-87 cars

Re: wiper conversion

An 84-87 ( or 88-92 ) style wiper motor will not fit on your 83 firewall properly.

The 82-83 wiper system is unlike anything 84+ and I have never seen anyone convert an 82-83 wiper system correctly.

What I *might* do in your shoes,..... use the original factory 83 Engine harness ( has wiper wiring on it ), 83 Wiper motor, 83 column, make a custom harness to connect the motor to the column,( because 83 C100 will not match the wiper wiring on the 92 C100 ) and delete VATS & Air Bag

This is NOT conclusive. !!! Using the 83 harness with the 92 dash wiring is SURE to cause a complication somewhere (IIRC power distribution changed @ C100 in 84 )

Good Luck !
