Aftermarket Steering Wheels

Well i ordered an aftermarket steering wheel for my 3rd gen Z28 and a quick release and hub adapter, all with 6 bolt pattern but then found out theres also a chevy 9 bolt pattern, how do I tell it apart? Just by taking the steering wheel off and hope that its 6 bolt?

the bolt pattern depends on the wheel you buy, you just have to make sure the spline is correct for the shaft on the column, then the length etc, etc.

the adapter slips on the shaft for the column, the wheel then bolts to the adapter using the 3, 6, or 9 bolts it requires, then the big nut and snap ring go on to hold it tight, then the horn button hides it all
